This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Actually it's a Samick, or SamICK, as one tech put it. Maybe Roger can = get them to change their name too.=20 I have been chosen to make this thing into the concert instrument the = players around here hope it could be. This a school venue and the Arts = council owns the piano and neither have any money and so having a = monetary donation such as this is rare and I donate a lot of time on top = of whatever money happens to get coughed up. It's part of the learning = experience too.=20 First I am doing exactly what Roger Jolly suggested in his class on = Samicks at the Ca convention. Repin the shanks, they are tight, 3/4 of a = swing with the knee flex test. Eliminate other friction and relead the = keys with the whippen assist springs disconnected, then adjust the H out = of it so the wippens are working proper. <G> Unfortunately after all this, tonally the piano sucks. Great sustain. = For the piano/ flugel horn duo that played in January it sounded = beautiful. Great revues. This time there is a 60 piece orchestra with = it. Really a string plucked sounds as if it is in a big hall. Thung. Do = any of you guys know if these boards are hopeless? Is this one of those = pianos that could benefit from that centripetal tensioner or spider = add-ons? I'm going to be there this afternoon and will be testing = different aspects of the board and bridge.=20 Keith Roberts ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
