He's not a cheapskate and does it this way because there's a great strength in building unison stability as you go. And it could be that the practice of "shimming" -- about which we have to hear more -- would be very, very useful to everyone in the last stages of tuning, whether or not we tune all unisons as we go. He's not being a fanatic, not trying to convert others, not being abusive. He's describing a TOOL. For me, it's emphatically NOT "enough already."
