>Recently tuned a console model piano with very " buzzy bass " strings. >Looking it over, >I noticed that something like coke was obviously sprayed everywhere , >including >the hammers, dampers, and strings. Piano is in a church auditorium >setting where >young people gather to play basketball, lunch, and study. The buzz is >very metalic, >like the windings are loose. Tried to twist a couple with no success. >.... > >Carl / Winnipeg Before replacing the strings I would make sure that the buzz is coming from the strings. You said stuff had gotten on the dampers as well. Some of the dampers may have gotten hard as a result and are causing a buzz upon their return to the string. Does it buzz when the key is held down and the note is sounding, or when the key is released? Phil Ford
