This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Y'all have been yakking about the capos. One thought that I have, often, = is the difference in sound/tone, in the different materials used for the = upper termination point, (Nut). Many of the really nice Olde = uprights/grands used wood for the upper bass termination point, which in = my opinion gives a much nicer bass sound. Some have used brass. As the = plate technology progressed, most settled on having the upper nut cast = into the plate. At least on uprights, this is the case. IMO, as they = moved away from brass & wood for the terminations, the sound seems to = get more strident and higher partials prevail. Am I imagining things? = Or, is this perception real? I know that, by changing the material on my Hagstrom ,bass, from wood to = brass, it gave it a whole different sound. It seems that the harder the = material used, the more upper partials seem to be present. Something to = think about, anyway.=20 Y'all have a nice Feast today.
