Front Rail Punchings

I have a question for our European friends

I have encountered a few  (maybe three) pianos of European manufacture
which had dual F/R punchings. A thicker, woven (maybe) punching
and a thinner woven or pressed (not sure) punching on top.

I would like to hear from yous guys as to the execution of and the efficacy 
of this system.

Just as a dual back rail cloth/felt system is employed, this might be 
something to
incorporate into future applications.
