Working on a very nice 100 year old Kimball upright -- it was Grandma's piano and the guy is paying to have it "done right" all new felts, new casters, CA block, ... I like it! Anyway, this piano has a plate strut (I guess that's what it is) BEHIND the soundboard in the tenor/treble strut area. Is that what I'm seeing? It's new to me. Don't know if it's a related issue but with this extra iron and 8 heavy back posts this piano seems well constructed (and heavy) and there are NO cracks in the board or either bridge, not even one teensie little eyelash!
