So, let's talk about damper lift

Ed,

I generally like to set the damper lift height with the pedal to be
about the same as the key lift, or slightly less on damper systems
with dual pivot designs (where the damper tray pivot point is not
aligned with the underlever centers).

If the keys lift the dampers slightly with the pedal pressed, it
should happen after letoff, in the realm of aftertouch. The slight
added resistance, being after the maximum resistance at escapement,
will not be noticed by the pianist, and can actually be sort of beneficial.

With the dual-pivot damper tray setup, making the pedal lift less
than the key helps with the upstop rail adjustment, allowing it to be
kept closer.
