It might be smarter to build a new handle. Not that hard if you have a band saw or know someone who does. Anyone ever tried to fix a split handle on a hand plane? The split is about midway up the handle, right along the grain. Rosewood. problems: 1. Glue type? 2. because of the shape of the handle, clamping will either cause a break at the top, or will cause parts to slide past one another as pressure increases.
