Good points, Ed. I'm pretty sure I have State Disability, and I do have an emergency money stashed away. And one of my clients is an ear specialist at the health foundation where I'm a member. All that said, SDI won't pay nearly what I earn. Perhaps finding a private insurer to take up the slack would be a good idea.
