Hammer angles on Sohmer Cupid

Is anyone aware of an intentional reason for hammers on a Sohmer 
Cupid to be hung at a 95 1/2 degree angle? That would be leaning 
towards the bridge.  I don't have the piano, at the moment, so I 
can't install the action to see whether there is a clearance issue 
with the pinblock, a la Bechstein.
