Paul:

I agree there are dangers in talking on the phone while driving (or
doing anything else while driving) but with a hands-free device that
will dial on voice command I don't think it is any more dangerous than
talking to a passenger. Actually since you don't have the temptation of
turning to look at the passenger it might be safer. I have missed exits
talking to my wife while she is with me. If they outlaw conversing on
the phone in a car, they need to outlaw conversing with a passenger. I
read the story in your link and I think they need to study in-car
conversations too!

Actually, there are studies that show that using a cell phone while
driving is actually like driving under the influence of alcohol. In
fact, the studies showed that you are more impaired than using alcohol.
Even if you use a hands-free device. I have actually missed an exit
more than once while conversing on the phone. It's not like you're
listening to the radio. Your mind goes somewhere else. Check out this

Let us know when you are on the road so that we can be sure to
stay home.....

Actually, I think driving while talking on a cell phone is good
policy, and I salute those who do.
