In Olympia, WA we've had a record year. The tunings seemed a little slower than other years but we made up for it in piano sales and restoration projects. I think the rough economy will effect the discount technicians most. Those who cater to price shoppers are the first to get hit. I believe (and hope!) that those technicians who have a variety of services to offer and do high quality work will do OK. --- On Sun, 12/21/08, MPianotex at aol.com <MPianotex at aol.com> wrote: From: MPianotex at aol.com <MPianotex at aol.com> Subject: Re: [pianotech] how's business? Business has been nocitably off since last fall, and this year even those who I considered to be well-heeled and recession proof are putting off tuning calls. Many of them are effected by the downturn in the stock market, as well as the housing downturn. Several local businesses have closed, most apparently the local GM dealer, which has left a large, empty car lot visible by the freeway. Things will turn around next year -right? Patrick C.
