If the key frame is bedded properly, they work great. If need to exert that much pressure with the key blocks, you can be sure the bedding is not right. However, I personally don't recommend them, at least not for S&S (not sure when else you might use them). When I was in NY last spring, I tried a little experiment with them, and they did not ACCURATELY replicate the pressure of the cheek blocks - and this really is essential in S&S. YMMV, depending upon how firmly the downward clamping pressure of any given cheek blocks are adjusted. It may be that in some it works better than others, but I can say from experience that on the few I've tried, the regulation did change when the cheekblocks were installed and screwed down - which is now my default (again) for regulating S&S. Tom, Great tool to have. I got mine from APSCO many years ago. I can't think of who has them now, but I do remember seeing them somewhere. I'm sure one of the supply companies who has them will respond. In the meantime, I'll try to remember where I've seen them. Al G List, I seem to remember seeing a spring type clamp for holding keyframes to the bed but can't seem to locate these in my supply catalogs. Advice?
