For screws which do not turn with hand force use a ratchet with a slot bit or cross bit (Posidrive too). In the tool case which usually stays in the car, I keep two sizes of cross and slot bits and a small rack of sockets for various fasteners. Get Snap-On bits, guaranteed for life and do not fail as often as the major department store brand. Combined with an extension, plate screws are easy to tweak when needed; stubborn cheek block or lyre screws are no match for the torque produced. -- Regards, Jon Page
