I should have been more specific as to what I was replying to. Someone had said that if a person went with an oversize pin, the next option was a new pinblock. It was to that point I was replying to. If just a few were at fault, then plugging the holes and drilling for #2 pins would be my choice. It sure pays to be specific. Oh well, I will just use my usual excuse, old age. :-) John Ross ----- Original Message ----- From: "Farrell" <mfarrel2 at tampabay.rr.com> To: <pianotech at ptg.org> Sent: Wednesday, January 28, 2009 6:29 PM Subject: Re: [pianotech] Best Way To Fix Loose Pins? For whatever reason I thought he was looking for a more simple method of fixing the pin than plugging - but aside from that, excellent suggestion John. Ha! Now that I look at the subject line, he is looking for the BEST way - assuming he means pinblock integrity, uniformity, adherence to original dimensions, etc., you are likely correct that plugs would be the best. Terry Farrell ----- Original Message ----- If it were just a few, another option is plug it with a pinblock material plug, then drill for a #2 pin. The plugs are available from Web Phillips, in 3/8" and 1/2" sizes. John Ross
