It could be something under the back of the keys but not on all of them. Could be the hammer rest rail, but the shanks are high off of it. Could it have a flange rail for the stickers, sitting over the capstans, that has dropped down onto the back of the keys? Usually those are pinned as well as screwed in, but I gueass it's possible. Or a whole chain of pencils stuck in the same place? I'm having trouble picturing the whole situation and probably missing something very obvious.... ---Dave New Orleans
