Joe,

If it's just a few mm, put punchings in the bottom of hole in the lyre box, or a flat head screw in the top slot. Other than that, replac the sticks.

What methods have you used for Steinway lyre sticks that are too loose  
to support the lyre, either from the keybed slots getting chewed up  
and eroded, or from lyre sticks that are just too short?
