That is what I initially thought. But then with the drop in pitch more than I expected, I am thinking that it must have some structural damage. I just noticed it when I was leaving, so didn't have a chance to explore further. The pin block should still be secured to the inner rim. It probably can be glued, clamped and secured with Timber Lok Screws.
