Jeff.

If you can get the university to pay for room humidifiers, that would be the 
best solution. (But whose going to be responsible to see that the buckets are 
kept full of water?)  

In my opinion, if you put a DC unit with water in a piano that gets moved all 
over the place by anyone and everyone, your're asking for trouble. 

Tapping the strings and bridge pins will help eliminate the false beats. But 
this is something that will need to be done on a regular basis, especially 
with the fluctuation of humidity levels you're talking about. The question 
is, are the people who are playing the piano, or the choir director, 
complaining about the false beats, or is this something that only you are 
aware of? In other words, is it worth all that work just to please you?
