Yes, but I think that the total length of the becket also counts. I let the wire poke out the far side just a millimeter or so when I start to make the coil on the dummy pin. By the time I've made the bend (as sharp as possible) this small amount has sucked itself into the pin. Ideally, once the coil is finished, the becket will reach exactly to the surface of the pin. Before I left this little extra bit, the beckets ended up short by the same amount. I also press the becket into the hole several times as I'm pulling the string to pitch. It may not affect whether the wire from walks out the hole, but a tight fit does help tuning stability, I feel. Susan
