Richard- A community chorus in my area recently purchased a new Yamaha C-7 for $25,000. (June purchase. Dealers will often give higher discounts on big pianos, especialy if they've been on the floor for a while.) My feeling is that Steinways are high maintenance pianos, and that a Yamaha or Kawai would hang in there longer and better with less upkeep, more typical of jr. high schools.
