That's brilliant, Eric: a double tool!

 

I have just the thing to use instead of the set screw: a quick-release
sailboat shackle pin.  It works like a cotter pin, except what holds it in
place are two spring-loaded tiny ball bearings at the end of the shaft,
released by an internal plunger.  I don't know if they make them quite that
small, though...

I place a damper wire set screw (I couldn't find anything that worked
better) into one of the holes in the capstan and place the tool (chucked
into my cordless drill) onto the capstan making sure the screw gets up into
the cutter slot on the side of the tool (photo #2).
