Dilute it..it will not fry paint if it is diluted. ( I was thinking you
were prepping for re-bronzing, so I suggested the #000 stel-wool and
brushes)....

It can be used for cleaning Pledge etc of lacquered surfaces... I have
cleaned many boards and many Ebony Lacquered pianos that had become
gooped up with furniture polish and 'enviornmental' goop. Keep in mind,
lacquared surfaces are 'rubbed out' with H2O and lubes...The natural
lubricating (soapy) properties of TSP help steel wool from gouging the
surface, similar to wool-wax...

The key to successfully using it...

1) Hot water, to dissolve the TSP into solution...it works best when it
is hot....it will cool quickly when it gets to the rag, and then
surface....

2) Don't rub hard...don't press down...

3) Don't let it stay on the surface too long...of course it will start
to soften paint / lacquar etc.

4) If your in doubt, don't do it.

TSP dissolves 'oily' deposits...It is labled as a 'painted surface
prep'...to cut oils off of kitchen walls prior to painting....
