About 30 years ago, I rebuilt a long Steinway A. It was necessary to put up to 4 full turns on the strings in the tenor section to bring them alive. There were no deleterious effects. the piano is still in use by a teacher who is the wife of one of our esteemed technicians in our area. Jim Coleman, Sr.
