Hi Del, I bought it about 17 years ago. What did I know about runout? Nothing. I thought if it went up and down it would do so in a nice straight line. NOT! It took me a long time to realize I could restrict the movement of the quill with the lock lever, then I was able to do some work like put in Stanwood friction screws. I did it, only once and never again, on a set of New York shanks. Man alive what a chore that was. The problem is that the hole for the quill was cut from the casting with no space to put in a set of bearings or restriction screws with bearing ends. Now I just live with it just I do my other flaws, few that they be. Newton
