formula for Hammer softening solution?

I've used 1part of Snuggle and 7 parts of Isopropyl alch. and it works well.  I only do that on pianos that needles won't penetrate (over doped ones usually).  When you try to stick a needle in the hammer and it doesn't soften, but just leaves a hole, then that's what you have to do.  Steam is a little more benign if they aren't TOO hard.
