This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Hi Jack,=20 I'm dying of curiosity. How did you determine that much historical = info. on an old defunct and obscure a company as schiller and is there = a source for this stuff? Dale Erwin ----- Original Message -----=20 From: JWyatt1492@AOL.COM=20 To: pianotech@ptg.org=20 Sent: Sunday, March 18, 2001 1:31 PM Subject: Schiller rebuilding Hello to all.=20 The Schiller Co. was founded in Oregon, Ill. in 1892.=20 Frederick George Jones was born in Canada in 1847=20 and was a stock holder from the beginning. Soon he=20 bought all the stock and owned entire Company.=20 By 1912 the Co. was producing 6000 Pianos a year.=20 He had three Sons Geo. H., Edgar and Cyrus who all=20 worked in the factory. He died in 1913. In some manner =20 Geo. Jones was able to use the patents of J. Bauer in=20 his grands.=20 The scale ' E' a 5,4 in. Grand was their best and=20 most popular Grand=20 The Schiller used both the W.N.G. and Strauch Bros. =20 actions and perhaps others.=20 The ' E ' scale had 13 single and 14 double strings in=20 the bass.=20 This Piano is most surely worth rebuilding if you=20 compare, after a quality rebuild, to anything new on=20 the market at $10.000 or under. Especially if you=20 consider durability. The wood used to build this Piano =20 is so much superior to 98% of the pianos build today=20 that it could easily outlast them 3 times over.=20 At some point The Schiller Co. was Affiliated with=20 Conover Bros.=20 Hope this helps,=20 Jack Wyatt=20 ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
