Hello,
Same problem but in the same town only, the new place of the piano was 80%
HR daily.
The action frame warped, as the board, the tone turn mushy (BECHSTEIN mod M)
A partial (reguled) Damp Chaser system solved the tone and the piano in a
few weeks. The customer is amazed, and grateful. I had to bed the frame (no
bedding screws) by gluing veneer and sanding, but the 42% RH was under the
soundboard 1 hour after the system was plug in.
I am not sure that the system could deal with 92% RH, and if too much rods
installed, they are likely to produce warm moist air (in what extend ?) that
could eventually damage the glue joints.
But even a little correction is probably better than that high figure.
If the RH change stay within the 40% 60 65% range, I'd say that no danger at
all, but the instrument would need some regulation and voicing after getting
used to the new conditions.
Going from a humid place to a dry one seems more dangerous to me.
Congratulations to take care of this aspect, pianists are very afraid to see
the tone of their cherished instrument disappearing..
Regards.

What are the humidity variances one should be concerned about when moving
pianos long distances?
I live in Vancouver B.C. where the humidity ranges between
45-65% I have a customer who wants to bring her Kawia to Mexico . The
humidity there is 92%. today.
Another customer has a Yamaha G2 in Saskatchewan where it is
dry and would like to move it to Vancouver .
Thanks Jack
