Before you do anything else, may I recommend that you check the duplex scale. 
Adjusting the position of the contiguous, or it may be individual oliquots in 
the duplex scale to tune the duplex portions to the speaking length,  may do 
more to enhance the singing tone of that old Steinway  than any needling. For 
corroboration of this phenomena, there are numberous technicians who practice 
duplex scale tuning, as well as numerous technicians who have attended my 
classes, who will attest to the value of this procedure, I am sure.

For any information concerning this procedure, please let me know. Steinway 
invented this characteristic, and its purpose is directly aimed at the tone 
of the instrument.
