I have restrung the bass without altering tensions of plain strings. =
This subject has come up on this list numerous times in various forms =
and my understanding is that most professionals feel comfortable =
removing all the bass strings without altering tensions of plain =
strings.

Unless, of course, if I am wrong.    :-(
