Hi,

Thanks to all of you who took the time to respond to my questions. Your advice is great.

There were some questions for me that came from your replies. Jeannie, I think, had asked what software I have for my palm pilot. It is the Reyburn Pocket Cybertuner. I have found this to be quite helpful for me to visually see and check what I am hearing. I noticed at first that I wasn't quite on especially with temperments and this helped me with that. I have always been able to tune the unisons without much problem but still struggle getting the temperment to sound right. It also seems like my tunings don't hold like they should.

Someone else asked where I was from. I am between Grand Rapids and Lansing, MI. I thought I'd check out the PTG in GR but they break during the summer. I will check into that soon and hopefully attend meetings if able. Anyone know of someone around here that might be willing to be a mentor?

I was suggested to get an old piano and work on it. A family member just replaced an old Baldwin Acrosonic that was damaged in a fire. It actually sounds fairly good. It did get charred on the big wooden pieces of frame on the bottom back of the piano. Also, the veneer on the side was damaged. Anyone think this is salvageable? I guess it would be a good think to practice on if nothing else. I did end up getting the piano but currently have no warm place to keep it and to work on it so would need to figure out something for that as it will be cold her before I know it.

Thanks again for your comments. They do help. I'd really like to make this happen and the sooner the better. As someone said, we're not getting any younger. Also, I was laid off from my regular job and unemployment is running out. I need employment. How fun it would be to do something that I enjoy for a living!

Thanks

nancy
