The checking should work at 15.  Yesterday I regulated  backchecks on a 
newish Kawai upright to that distance, and they worked  fine.  Felt good to play, 
too.  
 
What I find interesting, though, is what I often see on  pianos out of the 
box is more like 25mm.  But they're all lined up real  nice and neat!

Anyone have a PTG action specs handbook nearby.  I misplaced mine  and can't 
seem to find it.  I'm looking for the hammer blow distance  and key height for 
a Kawai  UST-7.
