I have seen instances, where something has been added that causes the wood to get worse.
I was told that it was the glycol product. So I never recommend the application of a glycol product, thinking, better safe than sorry.

  David,
What is your climate like? CA (superglue) works well in wet climates, Garfields (glycol) works well in dry climates. Epoxy is an option when there are major cracks in the block. All are cheaper than block replacement or oversize pins.

I am still new at tuning and repairing pianos. I have Fischer upright that was given to me. I am attempting to get it back into some sort of playable condition and gain experience at the same time. All the tuning pins are loose and will not hold a tune. What is the best way to solve this problem short of replacing the pin block?

    Thanks
    David
