Is calculus ever used in scale design?

Hi Julia

How do you imagine the derivative of a logrithmic function could be
helpful in this context... or perhaps a third degree intregral of a
straight line representing offset inharmonicity from ideal
inharmonicity.... or.... whatever....

I would think Calculus is not used because there is no practical
application that is not more easily dealt with otherwise. But perhaps
you have something in mind ?

Please enlighten us if you do !

Cheers
RicB

    Greetings,

Is calculus ever used in stringing/scale design? If not, why not?
