Help with LaFfarg serial number/worth

Greetings,

     What is the year of mfg. of a Laffarg  (it reads 'New York' below the 
Laffarg) grand piano with a serial # of 85439? Also are these pianos anything 
special? Inside on the action there is a tag that reads Staib-Abendsghein - N.Y. 
Looks to me as though some German action mfg'r set up shop in New York and 
made the actions. I dont know what would be French about the piano then. Wierd.
