Dear All, We are a Kawai agent in our area here in state of Victoria Australia, and of late, we have been receiving the new Kawai 'K' series of upright pianos, with the new millennium actions. I am not sure if these are being sent to the U.S. or not, however I have noticed that model K-3 and K-6 actions perform well when played normally, however when a key is hit hard, whilst tuning, there is a decided change in the hammer reaction. This seems to create a hammer bounce similar to lost motion syndrome, and is most annoying. The only way I can see to fix the problem is to bend the check wire so that the top of the check is bent inwardly towards the spur. This has had to be done on every one we have had, and we don't seem to be getting through to them about it. It is not a regulation problem perse, as everything else is spot on. Do you have these model actions over there, and if so do you have similar problems? The other strange thing about these is the natural keys have a metal stud at the rear of the keys, and the sharps do not. Is this a weight, and if so, why not the sharps?
