Self made belt sander belts

Thanks for the thoughts folks... John,,, thing is I dont really have a 
choice. As far as I can find at this point anyways... the size belt this 
thing has is unavailable over here.  John posted a link where I could 
get some... but I will have to order like a couple 100 to make it worth 
while to bring into Norway from the US.  Pain in the patootey as it 
were.... so I figured I could make my own.  Looking at the store bought 
I have, its got an angle cut splice... butt ends together with some kind 
of clear plastic tape on the back side holding it together.  Does anyone 
know off hand what kind of tape is used for this.  Its going to have to 
be really strong and really adhesive thats for sure..

    You know, when I read Ric's post, first thing I thought about was
    going out to buy a tool for which I could get supplies.

    Seems like all the dinking around to make belts would be
    counter-productive.  Unless you don't have anything else to do, which
    sometimes I don't.  Most of the time, though, my being a cheapskate
    ends up costing me more. <g>
