Ah, that's much easier to fix! If the finish isn't actually chipped/missing, then it just needs to be polished/buffed with a suitable abrasive.

If it is only just a mark as you say, get yourself some automotive swirl remover. I use Meguiars ScratchX, as it is safe even on high mirror ebony finish; absolutely the mildest polish you could wish for.

If you want to keep some mystery in your act, transfer the contents to an un-marked jar before use.

  Al, It's more like rub marks, when you look at it from a certain angle ,they can't even be seen, but move two feet over and bingo.
