Mine is fired with an oil filled radiator, which has a considerably higher BTU output than a couple of Dampp-Chaser heater rods. In your case, insulation kept the little available heat in the box. It also has a hard time generating the temperature differential necessary to take the MC down to 6% when the summer RH% is over 70. It takes 110°F for 24 over hours to get there. Ron N
