First, remove all of the old glue from the wippen and jack. Next, glue the jack into place making sure that it seated FIRMLY into the slot and in line with the back check. The middle of the back check is a pretty good area to use for judging this alignment. But, the jack has to be set down firmly into the slot too. Next, let it dry very good before you put it back or you will knock it out again fooling around with things in there. Then, trip the jack and tighten down the wippen flange screw. Holding the wippen up in the front will keep the jack from slipping back below. Even if it does, so what? You can still tighten the wippen screw. Also, make sure the damper spoon is underneath the damper not behind it before you tighten up the flange. Then, trip the jack again and put on the bridal strap. If it still falls below the hammer butt felt, then gently bend the bridal wire towards you a little bit. It may have gotten shoved backward somehow. If the bridal wire is to far back toward the action, it will allow the jack to flop down to far blocking in place. Sounds like this may be what is happening here? The trouble also is the wippen when it's loose will allow the jack to lift the hammer butt when I lift the wippen from underneeth. When the wippen is finally tight, it won't budge. Now I have to go back and remove the wippens again becuase the jack post came unglued again. This is turning into a nightmare.
