That's the point. If I'm right, there is no hope whatsoever.

And why would someone who is hired to find out tell us anything if the 
people (board) who hired them doesn't want us to know anything about it 
- which seems to be the case now?

My first, and current impression was/is that they took their software 
maintenance money and bought themselves a bunch of new toys, whether any 
of them served our needs or not.

These are impressions. What we *don't* have, and can't seem to get, are 
facts.
