I recently bought two excellent books by Alistair Laurence, a history of the Broadwood Barless piano and a history of 5 London piano makers (Brinsmead, Challen, Collard & Collard, Welmar, Danemann. Very well written and informative. It is interesting to read that Danemann were the last British makers of 9' concert grands and had one in the Royal Festival Hall when it opened in the early fifties.
