of a newsgroup. I plan to check it out this evening. If so, which of
us needs to be bothered with the growing mountain of posts and the
junk therein, when it's readily accessible and searchable on Andy's
server. (Whether PTx should be a mailing list or a newsgroup is a
question I have yet to explore.)

The list would be a disaster as a newsgroup. Spam & e-mail harvesting.
The searchable, list-generated archives are a manageable format.
You can sort by either of four categories: author, subject, thread, date

I usually sort by thread:
https://www.moypiano.com/ptg/pianotech.php/2004-February/thread.html

Within the archive, I often re-sort by <date> to view any recent additions to threads
which may not be visible on-screen. If I am not diligent in re-sorting by date,
I sometimes miss a relevant post or two but by scanning the threads I can pick them out.
Still faster than having them on my computer. I imagine it would also be quicker for those
with a dial-up connection by not having to wait for all posts to come chuggin' in once
they log-on, only to find many irrelevant posts to delete.

I placed a link in my <start menu>. When the beginning of a new month rolls around,
I click on its <properties> and replace the month.

Posts to the list show up in the archives within a few minutes, so time delay is not an issue.

Before accessing the archives, reading the mail took anywhere from 30 minutes
to sometimes over an hour. Now, I can get it accomplished in 10 minutes, with nothing to delete.

Impulse posting and those who feel compelled to post on everything might think twice since
a reply takes a certain amount of effort to copy and paste relevant text.

A thousand thanks go to Andy and all @ the ECC for making this happen.

A tip of the hat to ye...

Regards,
