Best approach for acquiring new business.

Shawn: Over 20 years time I have done all ideas mentioned, but word of mouth was still the most productive and longest lasting. However a close second for new business was this: I had a sign made up similar to the "For Sale" signs realtors use. Knowing passing motorists had only a second or two to read it, the sign read, "PIANO TUNING" and the phone number below, both in large block letters. Nothing else. I placed it on the lawn near the road in front of my home. After about a month, I began getting 3-4 calls a week. Apparently it took awhile for the words to sink in to passersby, but it worked amazingly well.
Always ask new clients how they found you as it will indicate what method of advertising works the best for you.
