My router table is a scrap of plywood fashioned to hold the router upside-down. The bit protrudes up through a hole in the center and the wood is covered with bushing cloth for a slide-free/scratch-free surface. The only tricky part is getting into the notch, or staying far enough from it. Spurlock has good info on all this.
