Yes, I shore up the bottom of the pin block.  I wedge a piece of plywood, 
covered with felt, on which I put a piece of wax paper. The felt is there to 
be sure all the little gaps and curves are covered. The wax paper is there to 
keep the epoxy from sticking to the felt.
