I have a customer with a beautifully rebuilt 1927 Steinway M. The piano is
heavenly, except as you go down the bass notes to the very end, the volume
diminishes until the last 3 or 4 strings sound you're playing an electric guitar
without an amplifier. These last, lowest bass strings sound like the
connection to the soundboard just doesn't exist. There's no buzzing or anything,
just a total loss of volume and tone. Anybody out there have a clue? Have you
ever seen this before?
