David, I bought my Big House bag from Duluth about 1 1/2 years ago. Before that I had a Genck Ultimate case for about 2 1/2 years. I didn't like the fact that when I opened the Genck case there was such disarray. I had been thinking about designing my own bag but since I bought the Big House all thoughts of this have fled! Sure, the bag is heavy but that is because I can carry so many of the things that I need for 99% of my calls. If I know that a call will need something I don't normally carry I can throw that in too. I have been using tool storage for about 20 years in this life and another as an electronic tech and I came to the conclusion long ago that if you have most of what you need it will be heavy. That is why I depend on the shoulder strap to take the brunt of the weight. The shoulder strap of the Duluth case is the best one that I have seen, by far. As I hinted earlier in this post, I dislike disorder, I chalk that up to OCD but the just plain orderliness of the Big House is refreshing. I carry three tuning hammers and each has a loop to keep it in place. I am sold on the quality of this bag as well. I was also pleased with the quality of the Genck case. It lasted for 2 1/2 years and still looks new as it sits up on a shelf in my garage. If any one is interested in the Genck case I will let it go cheap, not because it is cheap, but because I no longer need it. I have the tuning/voicing/flashlights on the black side and all the tools in the side with the decal. Nothings perfect and it has gotten too heavy, so I carry another doctor's bag for the straight-forward appointments, like the University and commericial accounts. I can carry them both when I need to... Now I'm more interested in what should go in the tuning kit... Dear Newtonville occupants, The Duluth jailhouse tool bag arrived .today. I think Im in lovecaveat here You could fill a mini van with the tool cases Ive loved and tossed in these 30+ years in the trade. I spent 30 minutes transferring tools from my old aluminum case and everything seems to have an accessible home in the bag. With some refining to do Im at 20 lbs. I implemented a suggestion from a fellow tech. Pick up the tool and if you cant remember the last time you used it, remove it to the backup kit in the car. Among items removed: Dale Erwin autographed grand hammer head extractor, small folding hacksaw, a few of my less popular regulating tools .A third combination handle. Im now a lean mean tuning machine Pics to follow after I have my Captain Crunch while watching the TIVO of the Red Sox clinching game-------AGAIN !
