HOURS - for CAUTs, etc.

The reason machines and other mechanical devices rely on the number of hours they are used, is because for the most part, they are used the?same way all the time, and the weather conditions do not effect how they operate.?

Pianos, on the other hand, are subjected to many different kinds of playing, are subjected to humidity?and temperature changes. Although most pianos?in a university are tuned and regulated periodically, anywhere from once a month to three or four times per year,?to only once a year, that?kind of service is not based on the number of hours they are played, but by what kind of use they get, and how, historically they react to how they are played, or of course, the weather.??

I hope that answers your question.

This question is for College and University
Technicians, or any other technician who services
"heavy use" pianos.

Certain types of machines and equipment in some
industries require particular maintenance operations
every so many HOURS of use.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever figured out an
average number of HOURS of playing between recommended
tunings for pianos. Is there a list or chart someone
has made with this information, as well as similar
estimates for the number of HOURS before various other
types of regulation is generally needed?
